Frequently Asked Questions

What does a trial with IC Recovery entail?

You tell us the chip type you would like to have refurbished. We'll quote a price per chip for pulling, refurbishing, and testing that chip type. We'll then arrange with you to process a small, representative lot of boards and return the refurbished chips to you. If you are completely satisfied with the results, we'll be ready to process commercial sized lots for you.

What is the turn around time?

Our current turnaround time is 60 days from receipt of your populated boards to the delivery of your refurbished and tested chips. We're working to reduce that time.

What does it cost?

We charge a fee for each chip refurbished and tested. Our fee is customized based on the type and volume of chips you want refurbished. Larger chips generally cost more, as do smaller lots. We'll give you a discounted price for a trial and then a quote for a commercial sized lot.

How do I know what my chips are worth?

Currently, we offer Recovery as a Service (RaaS™) to pull, refurbish, and test chips for our customers. We are not buying and selling chips themselves. We can provide a list of some of the websites where you can check current chip prices.

Where do bare boards, non-refurbished chips, and other residual materials go?

It's important to know that our process recovers all components from the boards, not just the chips you've designated for refurbishment. So, if you have a need for some or all of the other components and/or the bare boards, we can return those to you as well. Otherwise, all residual materials go to our ISO 14001 approved downstream vendors. We are happy to provide details. We can also discuss any concerns you have about data destruction and how we ensure that, if you wish.

What certifications do you have?

We have ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 in process. These will be followed by R2v3.

What assurances do you provide to your customers?

We provide a report certifying that your chips have been tested successfully for functionality, and we can offer higher level testing upon request. We back up our results with a money back guarantee for any chip that fails. We also provide a list of our downstream vendors for residual materials and copies of all certificates they provide to us. We arrange for counterfeit mitigation as requested.
